DUSAN NEDOV PRODANA
Dusan Prodana (Zabalj, 1963)
Academy-trained painter
He graduated from EDUCONS – Academy of Classical Painting in Sr Kamenici. He has been actively painting in oil on canvas technique, mostly large formats. In addition to artistic work, Prodana is also engaged in pedagogical work in his private drawing school in Žablalj, with children of preschool and lower primary school age. He is a participant in a number of art colonies in the country and the surrounding area. His works are in public and private collections.
In his thematic selection, Prodana is mainly oriented towards portrait art of realistic orientation, which is full of psychological characterizations. In his work, he often strives for an orientation that is on the edge of magical realism.
The form of this concept includes a gallery of depersonalized characters, functioning as a kind of mirror whose content reveals his personal aspirations, fears and dreams to us while exploring the work of the artist. Contrary to what has been said before, the composition here is often so deliberately set up that it gives the impression to the observer that he is the object of observation. This open and closed concept of the analysis of the world around him, which is in constant fluctuation with Prodana, is actually of autobiographical origin. If we know that since childhood, this artist was far away from people in a situation of constant solitude, but not loneliness, but the kind of solitude that allows us contemplation, whose path only leads to the center of the soul. Then, without pathos, we can say that these spiritual works are contrary in their foundation to today’s majority art production, which strives for rational discovery and representation of the world.
